The German Chancellor said that "the vaccine represents the light at the end of the tunnel", although not everyone can be vaccinated in the winter months and many will still have to hold out without it.
And Germany is pressing for a European agreement on the ski season, which, according to Angela Merkel, should not start. But "in the light of the Austrian position it is clear that it will not be easy, but we will try," said the chancellor.
