Amazonia: Bolsonaro, my government protects the forest

The Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro, speaking by teleconference at the G20 summit declared that his government "protects" the Amazon, rejecting what he called "unjustified criticism".

"We will continue to protect our Amazon, our Pantanal.

Count on my country and my people to make the world more developed and sustainable. We remain committed to preserving our environmental heritage and pursuing sustainable development ", said the head of state.
The tone of Bolsonaro's speech this time appeared less aggressive than that given in September at the opening of the UN general assembly. when he denied the presence of fires in the tropical forest.
During his speech at the G20, the President of the Republic also defended Brazilian agribusiness which, he claimed, feeds 1.5 billion people worldwide and preserves 66% of his country's surface intact. Finally, without naming any particular nation, Bolsonaro has repudiated the "unjustified" and "demagogic" attacks that are being launched against his government's environmental policies.
