In the Netherlands, 190,000 chickens are killed for avian flu

The Dutch authorities have killed about 190 thousand chickens following outbreaks of avian flu in at least two farms. This was announced by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture.

In particular, 100,000 chickens were killed in a farm in Hekendorp, just outside Gouda, while 90,000 chickens in Witmarsum, in the Friesland region in the north of the country. In both cases, the suspicion of the spread of a "highly contagious form of the H5 variant" led to action, the ministry specified.
